From The President
Friendswood is a rapidly growing community and we are glad to be a part of the future that our city has to offer. You can ask anyone about their experience of living and doing business in Friendswood, and rest assured you will get positive feedback.
The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce is actively involved with the City of Friendswood’s Economic Development office and working with our new and established businesses in promoting Shop Local. Our Chamber also supports education and works with the schools in Harris and Galveston counties within the city limits.
Friendswood has been named One of the Best Places to Live in the United States by Money magazine and CNN/Money. Friendswood is one of only six Texas cities, and the only community in the greater Houston area to make the list. The 2007 list, which ranks Friendswood as No. 51 out of 100 cities across the United States, focuses on smaller places that offer the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do, and a real sense of community.
The winning cities were chosen from a list with populations above 7,500 but under 50,000. Only towns with high education scores, low crime rates, and towns that did not have declines or sharp increases in population remained on the list. Further rankings were based on job, income and cost-of-living data; housing affordability; school quality; arts and leisure opportunities; ease of living; and health-care access. For the complete list, visit http://money.cnn.com. For more information on the City of Friendswood, visit www.ci.friendswood.tx.us.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, I encourage you to read about Friendswood’s rich heritage, schools, and business opportunities. I am sure you will discover that Friendswood offers a great hometown atmosphere and quality of life for you and your family.
Please patronize our Chamber members and those who have advertised in this year’s directory. They give their time and resources to nurture our community for the betterment of Friendswood, Texas!

President, Friendswood Chamber
From the Chairman
At the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce, our mission is “To provide opportunity for development, growth, and success” to the businesses in our community. This is a mission that we are proud of.The Chamber is here to serve Friendswood in multiple ways, whether it is helping individuals or local businesses. We strive to make this a better community, and we have an enthusiastic Board of Directors who actively work to accomplish this goal.
For business owners and professionals, we offer a multitude of opportunities to network and promote your business. We host monthly breakfasts and luncheons so you can meet and share ideas with Friendswood’s business community. We also organize events such as Halloween in the Park and our annual car show that allow members to showcase their business in front of thousands of attendees. You, the business owner, are an integral part of Friendswood.
In addition to our focus on local business, the Chamber also provides numerous services for Friendswood’s individual citizens. Whether you are new to the area or have lived here your whole life, the Chamber is a hub of information. Our directory, which goes out to over 10,000 residents annually, provides the telephone numbers and addresses of city services, schools, and local businesses.
We hold entertaining family events such as the Holiday Lighted Parade and Easter in the Park. To witness 10,000 carefully hidden eggs uncovered in minutes by smiling little faces is an absolutely priceless experience.
The Friendswood Chamber Scholarship Fund provides valuable scholarships to well-deserving students from both of our community high schools. I urge you to get involved and participate in all of these beneficial programs and events.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. I appreciate the board members for volunteering so much of their personal time to serve the community of Friendswood. We are lucky to have such a remarkable group. The Chamber’s true heart, however, is our staff, to whom I am eternally grateful. This organization would not be what it is without their tireless hard work and dedication.
Please use this directory as your guide to shopping locally. Supporting Friendswood’s businesses is an easy way we can all make our wonderful community even better. I look forward to serving you in the coming year.

From the Mayor
Friendswood is growing! Our community is built on a foundation of family, and that foundation continues to shape our future growth with a spirit of success and strength. As the recent accolades from CNN/Money magazine suggest, we are one of the best places to live in the United States. Our highly educated residents have significant disposable incomes and continue to create commercial opportunities for interested entrepreneurs.
Friendswood is facing a bright future with several new development projects taking shape. Construction is underway on West Ranch, a 766-acre development at the city’s southern end that will include a mixed-use village center. We expect to see many downtown re-development projects begin, thus bringing to reality the work of city staff, city council, and most importantly, volunteers such as the Downtown Revitalization Committee, the Community Economic Development Committee, and the Planning and Zoning Commission. When complete, these developments will help to strengthen and expand the local economy in Friendswood.
The Friendswood Chamber is a tremendous asset to our local economy. The City of Friendswood will continue to partner with the Chamber to ensure that we continue toward a prosperous future. I encourage residents and visitors alike to explore Friendswood’s business opportunities, and to take advantage of our Chamber’s services.
Through hard work and visionary planning, Friendswood is experiencing projects and developments that have moved from concept to reality. I am confident that the Friendswood Chamber will continue to be a key component in our achievements.
As always, please remember to shop Friendswood first!
